Gunes graduated from the University of Plymouth having studied an accelerated two-year LLB (Hons) Bachelor of Law degree. She pursued her career in Law by successfully completing the Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School with Commendation. During her time at BPP, she was involved in Pro-Bono work with the Hackney Community Law Centre and Leasehold Advisory Service.
Gunes initially joined the Immigration department of Descartes Solicitors in 2013 as a volunteer. In October 2014, Gunes assumed a Paralegal position and adopted the role of a Caseworker in early 2016. During her role as a Caseworker, Gunes had the increased responsibility of handling her own case load in a variety of Immigration law and had increased client contact. She dealt with cases from beginning to end and was most rewarded by the immense feeling of success following an approved application.
In January 2017, Gunes commenced her period of recognised training as a Trainee Solicitor. She will be undertaking seats in Immigration, Employment and Family law and intends to qualify as a Solicitor in January 2019.
Gunes is familiar with all areas of Immigration law and is also involved in the Family department of the firm. She has dealt with a variety of Immigration cases including, but not limited to, Spousal Visas, Visit visas, Tier 1 Entrepreneur visas, ECAA Ankara Agreements, EEA cases and Naturalisation. She also attends premium appointments at UK Visa Premium Centres.
Gunes believes Descartes Solicitors provide a fantastic supporting network for Paralegals and caseworkers to enable them to grow and improve. She appreciates Descartes Solicitors for being encouraging towards her learning and appreciates working for a firm which invests in the development of its staff.
