On 1st January 2023, amendments to the Immigration Skills Charge Regulations 2017 are expected to come into force. The current rules state that, subject to certain exceptions, businesses sponsoring foreign workers must pay a fee each time a sponsorship certificate is assigned to that worker.
From 1st January 2023, businesses bringing EU nationals to the UK on certain visa routes will no longer have to pay an Immigration Skill Charge. This exemption applies to anyone entering the UK on the ‘Scale up’ route or an intra-corporate transferee on the ‘Global Business Mobility –Senior or Specialist Worker’ route if he/she is bound by the 2020 EU-UK Trade Cooperation Agreement.
